Belated report from last weekends little road trip

The past week was packed with work so I didn't get very much laptop time...
So here are some belated photos from the drive we went on last Sunday.

Wooden crates ready - waiting to be filled with potatoes

Mare and two foals on a hillside (second mare not on the photo)

Straw bales waiting to be picked up and stored away in the barn

John Deer tractor with huge plow - really HUGE!

So huge! 7 plowshares!

Straw piled up on the side of a field

So much straw!

Beautiful clouds on the sky

"IF DOG ATTACKS lay still - until help arrives"

Cleo "carrying" a stick - Aaron dropped it on her *lol*

Lake "Immeln"

Lake "Immeln"

And again... Lake "Immeln"

Mushroom - edible or not - it sure is pretty!

HUGE Mushroom - Cleo posing for size comparison

Aaron carrying stick - the bigger the stick is the better!

Turning left to Sibbhult...

Aaron looking out of car window at parking lot

Not much to see but green grass and lots of trees, blue sky and cute clouds

One of the roads where I drive bus... lots of moose and wild pigs live in this area.

Trees against the blue sky

Can you see the woodpecker???

Insects and mushrooms!

The sun just came out. It's almost 5:30pm and this Sunday started out with a soft rain.
Aaron is laying outside in the wet grass and enjoys the fresh breeze.
His pool is really over the hill, Hasi had to put it to the garbage yesterday.
We fixed it several times with duct tape, but this time there was just no fixin...
Time for buyin a new on - this week.

Let's talk about mushrooms... the season is officially opened.
Picking mushrooms in the woods is a big thing in Sweden. I grew up in Austria and I...

A muggy saturday

It's a very quiet Saturday.
It feels like a change in energy, we passed the peak of summer season 2010 and slowly make the transition into fall.
Some of the wheat fields are already harvested and the straw sits on the fields, baled and ready for transportation.
This field will be next...

I had a job interview this week and it went really well. There are just a few formalities that have to be cleared next week and then I am all ready to drive bus!
:))

Here a cute shot of Aaron, his mommy was outside mowing the front lawn and he was watching...
I posted a similar photo in a previous post, where he was standing on the chair with his front paws.
But now he's figured out how to really sit on it!

( I thought it would be fun to take these shots in B&W;-)

And this is Cleo, watching the horses that you will see on the following photo I took on our walk this afternoon...

The big building (pretty much the only one that's that high in this area) is Kristianstad's Hospital.
And the horses, beautiful mares with their sweet foals... they really have a HUGE pasture. Cleo and I enjoyed exploring the woods right next to where they live, even though it was kind of warm, muggy really. It has been like that for days.

Well, it's late and I definately need some beauty sleep ;-)

Have a fantastic Sunday you all!

Green Green Green!!!

The sky did lighten up around 1pm..!

THE
chance to take the boys for a ride!!!

It was still quite windy and that's
why they seemed to have bugbears in their heads...

They were both full of energy and looking around with big eyes,
their ears where scanning the surroundings.
I could feel the tension in Midas' body.
It took a while until they were able to settle down
and enjoy the jaunt as much as I did.

We got quite a bit of rain during the last 24 hours, the water level in the creeks is high.
The trees are growing billions of leaves
(a welcome snack for Midas and Indigo along the way..!)
whose colors are so bright, so fresh, so bold!

We went up the hill where
we took a moment to look down to the farm.
Well, I was looking, Midas and Indigo
put their snouts to the ground immediately to grab some grass...

I know, I repeat myself when I say:

I love spring!!!

...but I just don't care!

I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring!I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring!I love spring! I love spring! I love spring! I love spring!.................

:))

Rain and Colorado, Eagles, Horse and Mule ...

It is still raining...
Well, it has been dry yesterday afternoon and looking out of the window now, I regret that I didn't take the boys for a ride yesterday.
Today it is really nasty outside.
The wind blows the raindrops right into your face... Bäh!
I hope it clears up a little this afternoon, only for an hour or so.
The horses could need a short change of scenery.

COLORADO 2006

Our longtime friends MJ and Mr. T (+ all their animals) had just moved to Colorado.
So it was time for a visit!
Well, I had also signed up for a equine massage class that fall, up in Fort Collins...
And so I got to visit MJ, Mr. T, Polly, Rhettly and Maggie before class started in September! After class had finished late October, Hasi flew into Denver as well, and we went back to Mancos for a second visit.

MJ took me for a ride in or near the Mancos State Park, it was so nice!

I got to put my new equine massage skills to work on Polly...

and Rhettly, my dear old friend!

But the most exciting day was, when MJ took us to look for the Bald Eagles in the area...
We were so excited, a huge wish was close to be fulfilled...

Hasi on the look-out...

There they were...!!!

We saw close to 15 Bald Eagles that day.
One remarkable memory!

Wash over your spirit!

I love swallows, I always did.
When I was little we used to have 4, sometimes 5 nests every year in our cowhouse.
I remember it so well, I loved to watch the parents feed the little ones and was always stunned by how fast and precise they navigate through the air.
That is what makes it also almost impossible to get a good picture of them...

The spring day they arrive at the stable
is always a special moment for me,
a moment that lets me just pause for a little while.

There are two or three "couples" here at the farm.
I didn't expect that many really, because there are no animals on the farm... but they are here and I love to listen to their chatter.
:))

We discoverd their first nest today.
It is an "used" one and they're renovating it very carefully.
Fantastic birds!

This fella came to "visit" the farm again yesterday.
It is nice to see him hopping around so happy,
but it is also a bit annoying because the dogs have to go on the leash now...
And they don't like that!!!

He's also not easy to shoot (with my camera of course).
He is very alert and moves around quite a lot.

I had to do some adjustments on this photo in Photoshop.

And this is the crop from the photo above... which is surprisingly good.

These are the moments when I wish my lens would be reaching a little "longer"...

But like always in life,
we just can't have it all...
And that is OK!

:))

I had a good ride yesterday.
Midas was behaving well and Indigo followed us as usual.
We didn't see much wildlife,
just couple of geese down at the river.

Going for a trail ride is really one of the best ways to
"wash over your spirit and take all cares away"
as allhorsestuff said in her comment.

And so is going out with the camera,
searching for the perfect motive...
