Under the weather

Summer can be full of pitfalls!

Hasi is under the weather, feeling sick!

She must have picked up something - somewhere...

She's resting.

:(

I have been out doing "stuff". We bought a new sprinkler yesterday, for the round pen. It's too dusty otherwise...
Dirt doesn't taste so good you know!
I've also worked on our last piece of furniture, it's a "köksofa", a wooden bench with a padded seat. It's also possible to make it into a spare bed.
The seat needs to be coverd with a new linen, so I took the old one off.

But now...

Time for a break.

I am eating Cauliflower seasoned with herbs, sea salt, dried onions and sprinkled with some olive oil...
Not bad!
It's HOT again and then a light snack is ideal.

I also put up a hammock on one of the big birches in our garden,
right next to the cherry tree!

:))

I wish MJ could come and make a yummie cherrie pie??!!
I would go and get vanilla ice cream...
How does that sound??

MJ! Where are you??!!

Some relieve from the heat

Lucky me, I made a couple of random shots of the thunderstorm and YES, when I looked at them at the computer I found THIS..:

This afternoon was HOT again. All day was HOT!

This morning we made some additional fence to keep Cleo in the backyard if necessary.

We surrendered to the heat around 11am and "rescued" the horses from swarms of horseflies and pitiless temperatures.
Midas was sweating and tired, Indigo's breathing was heavy. They were very grateful to be able to hide in their stalls...
We went inside also and stayed there practically all day.
I started to fix supper at 5pm, around that time I heard Hasi holler from outside the kitchen window, I looked outside and she was standing with her arms up in the air welcoming the first raindrops!!!

Those last days we were longing for a little thunderstorm and rain SO MUCH, but it just didn't happen (for us)...
We took our supper and sat down on the porch, looking at the dark clouds and lightning, listening to the wind storming through the tree tops and we were wincing with every "boom".

It was wonderful to feel the temperatures drop and also witness one of natures most powerful ways to remind us what power really is.
I always loved to watch thunderstorms, I remember sitting on the windowsill of my room when I was little... my legs were hanging out (first floor) and I was counting the lightnings that were unloading purest energy...

:))

After the storm was over we turned the horses out again, they were so happy raced out onto the pasture.

Happy End!

Hay Day :))

The hay is in the barn.

10 of those round beauties, fresh, green hay.

They smell soooooo good!

Miserable

That's exactly what I would like to do right now!!!

Did I tell you that we moved to Sweden
(almost 1000 km further to the north - even though it's north on the planet earth this is still south sweden...)
because we wanted to enjoy cooler summers??!!

This is *ing insane!!!

30〫Cel. (that's 86 Fahrenheit) on the porch in the shade NOW.
It's not even noon!

We are hiding in the house again. Other people might love temeratures like that, we don't!
If we did, we would have moved to spain!

I start to think that we will move further up north next time... ;-)

SIESTA

It's almost 10 pm.
We had 30 degrees Celsius on the porch today, in the shade!
I started to clean out the shed (to make room for hay) this morning after turning out the horses and mucking the boxes.
I had to move slowly and be careful not to wase too much engery. It was so warm!
Even though I was able to stay in the shade, it was windless and humid.
I took a break around 11:30, went in to drink lemon-water and cool off on the sofa...

Hasi was already done with laundry chores and vacuume cleaning.
The house is equipped with one of those fantastic "built in" systems where you only have to plug the (very long) hose into the outlets in the walls... It really works perfect! Amazing power!
:))

We both ended up resting on the sofa, thinking about what to eat for lunch.
We decided to warm up leftover chicken sweet sour and I made fresh Jasmin Rice.

After lunch we landed on the sofa again - after pulling down the blinds and closing the back door, trying everything to keep the hot air from coming into the house.

Soon after that, around 1 pm, I fell asleep.
When I woke up one hour later I realized that Hasi and Cleo were gone...
I spotted Cleo on the bed in the bedroom, the door was open. She wasn't alone in there, Hasi was also taking a nap. :))
I went up and to the bathroom, felt incredibly tired and decided to take another nap.

How cool is that!?!

S I E S T A ! ! !

It was 4:30 pm when we woke up again. I slepd so well!! :))
It felt so good to rest, not just the body also the mind was resting.

I turned the horses back out, luckily it was a bit more windy and the nasty horseflies were mostly gone.

We, Hasi and I, joined forces to get finished on the shed project, around 7pm it was accomplished.
Clouds started to show up on the western sky behind the "Fjälkinge Backe" Nature Reserve.
It has cooled off quite a bit but no rain so far.

I just looked, it's 19 Deg.Cel. now on the back porch. HEAVEN!

Hasi and Cleo are out on a evening walk. It's almost dark now and they should be back soon.

It's almost 11pm now.

It's quiet in the house, the only noise i hear is my fingers tippy-tapping on the keys AND the sprinkler just outside of our yard.
The farmers are very busy with watering their corn- and potatoe fields.
The sprinklers run 24/7.

It seems to pay off though, the plants are doing great, the harvest will be rich, some cornfields are starting to turn from green into gold, a beautiful sight!

I hear Cleo's little paws coming in...

Time to get ready for bed...

Good night World!
