Eurasian Jackdaw - Die Dohle



This is the Eurasian Jackdaw, called "Dohle" in German. (Corvus Monedula)

I met this little fella (and some of his friends at distance) at the church yard in Åhus last week.

I usually love to see these chummy birds, usually. I don't when they "steal" cherries from "our" tree...

AND when they sit in the birches right in front of the bedroom window 5 in the morning, talking taking taking.....

    Well Janine, I guess I was just lucky...
    Those birds are normally very shy, this was the first time I got so close to them.
    I was sitting down on the stairs of the church yard entry and the bird was coming closer and closer...
    He tried to get something out of the grass just 2 meters in front of me.
    Then he looked at me for a little while before joining his friends again.
    Those things happen mostly when you don't expect them.

    Great Series of the Dohles! Sorta reminds me of a mini crow. They talk too much and are a pain - eat everything in sight! You did a great job!!...debbie

    Supurb photos of the jackdaw! Black birds are really hard to get good photos of but you did an excellent job! It's wonderful when an opportunity to take photos like this just fall into your lap, and fortunate for you that you had your camera with you and ready. You just never know when an opportunity will come along.
