Furniture finally IN the house

WOW!
THE HEAT IS BACK!!

It was warm again today, 25 〫C plus.
Very high humidity!

BUT that didn't keep us from working hard!

:))

We cleaned and polished some more used furniture and moved it into the house.

Most pieces were not too heavy for the two of us to carry it up the stairs and into the rooms...

BUT that beautiful "MONSTER" required some wit and help of our "Avant"!

Massive massive massive - heavy heavy heavy!!!

In the dining room..
The dark red wall made it difficult to get a decent picture, the color of that antique furniture is much nicer then it looks on the photo.
AND it fits perfect with the dining table that we purchased.
:))

This is the corner cabinet we got from our friends Marianne & Stefan in Getinge. :))

This chair was also a good deal at the second hand store!

Dining table with a mix of chairs...
(and yes, the side parts slide under the bigger bord in the middle if needed)

All that's left now is moving the lamp over the center of the table, one of my tomorrows projects!
:))
And maybe a nice carpet some day...

That's the cabinet we bought for the kitchen, it's not antique, it's made in Tschechien!
How funny is that?! In the land of IKEA??
Well, why not! It's functional and looks nice. That's all that counts (for us).

Hip hip hoerah!!!!!

*lol*

Hay Silage and refurbished Table

It's very common in Sweden to feed Hay-Silage to horses...
Hay-Silage is grass that has been dried around 2 days, (Silage for cows is usually moister).
then wrapped into foil.
Sweden has high air-humidity during winter and the hay gets often damp and mouldy, Hay-Silage stays the same quality and the horses like to eat it usually.
Another benefit of those bales is that you can store them outside...

We bought 10 bales 200 kilos each.

10 bales of hay and 10 haysilage, that should be plenty of food for the boys until next spring.
:))
End of August we'll get a couple of bales wheat straw, that's already on order.

This afternoon I was working on the pull-out dining table we bought the other day.
My entire upper body is hurting, I was grinding the table by hand!!!
It was quite a job, but it's worth it, it looks fantastic again.
We bought the table for only € 50,- and now it looks brand new!
But see for yourself...

My arms are hurting too much - I can hardly keep my hands on the keybord.
Time for a pain killer and a good night sleep!
:))

Have a good one everybody!

Herbs, Weeds and Antiques

We were working on weed controle on the pastures lately.
It's been too dry for the grass to grow, but the weeds are fine! GRRRRRR!

I don't care about weeds that have nice flowers, but the ones that have just millions of seeds for reproduction purpose are so USELESS!
USELESS like flees! Who needs them?!

AND if the weed is toxic, it's even worse.

We have two plants growing, which look very similar from the distance.
One is called
"Johanniskraut", called "Amber" or "Goat Weed" i think,
(Hypericum perforatum) - which is a great medicinal plant AND
which I call "the good guy",
the other one is called
"Jakobskreuzkraut" or Jakobs-Greiskraut in german, "Common Ragweed" in english (Senecio jacobaea),
which I call "the bad guy".

It's toxic and can kill a horse or other animal.

So Hasi has been out the last two days checking our fields and found a few plants.
The only really effective way to get rid of them is digging them out.
Same with Rumex (Ampfer) by the way, at least if you don't want to use chemical weed killers.

Here two photos that show the plant and it's blooms..

Johanniskraut on the right,
Jakobskreuzkraut on the left...:

Our "new" second hand furniture is still sitting in the garage/shop, waiting to be cleaned, except for one piece.
It's a serving trolly that we fell in love with the moment we saw it.
Isn't it gorgeaus?!

Have a great Friday everyone!

ALMOST WEEKEND!

Yeeeeeehaaaaa!

Second Hand

We went to a Second Hand shop this afternoon.
SO MUCH STUFF!!!!!
I managed to leave my little camera in the car AGAIN,
so I took a couple of images with my Mobile Phone...:

We found some furniture that we would like to have, so we will go back there soon (it's in the middle of "nowhere" on a farm about 20 min. south of here) with our horse trailer and try to get a good price on them...

Those second hand places are really interesting to go to.
Especially when they keep everything, from real antiques to tons of junk. And believe me, this place is stuffed with junk!

We'll keep you up to date on weather we'll be able to make a bargain or two...

:))
